Pedestrians on South 10th Street

Over the 2021 Memorial Day weekend, management at Bancroft Street Market had an opportunity to observe pedestrians on South 10th Street in Omaha. They were walking to the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo. Many of them were pushing strollers, and accompanying small children. Unfortunately, at some spots on their walk from Bancroft Street south to the zoo, they had to divert from the sidewalk into the street. There were two types of obstructions that required diversion into 30 MPH traffic South 10th. The first type was parked cars on the sidewalk, the second was household trash containers on the sidewalk. Another impediment to safe pedestrian travel was deteriorated sidewalks with cracked and uneven surfaces.
